Luis Alberto Cruchaga Ossa, Carla Dittus Cabrera and Jorge Valenzuela Baldwin, lawyers in the Labor, Dispute Resolution and Tax areas respectively, have been promoted to partner effective January 2022.
With the appointment of the three new partners, the total number of BMAJ partners increases to fourteen.
Luis Alberto Cruchaga Ossa joined the Labor & Employment area of the firm in 2011. He advises clients on workforce matters regarding recruitment, dismissals, and immigration; as well as covers corporate employment matters including regulatory compliance and due diligence reviews for merger and acquisition transactions. Luis Alberto also represents clients in workplace relations with trade union organizations and in dispute resolution before judicial bodies. BMAJ’s Labor & Employment area is led by Pablo Gutiérrez and is ranked in the publications Chambers and Partners and The Legal 500.
Luis Alberto graduated from the Universidad de Los Andes (2007) and holds an LL.M. from the Università di Bologna in Italy (2014). He has held the position of Visiting Professor on the Masters in Company Labor Law at Chile’s Universidad de los Andes since 2018.
Carla Dittus Cabrera entered BMAJ’s Dispute Resolution areas in 2013. Her practice focuses on representing clients in conflicts before the ordinary courts of justice, as well as before the Santiago Arbitration and Mediation Center, the International Chamber of Commerce, and ad-hoc arbitration tribunals, both nationally and internationally. She has experience in disputes related to the energy industry, mining and natural resources, construction and infrastructure, advertising, marketing and conflicts between shareholders, among others. BMAJ’s Arbitration and Litigation areas, led by Andrés Jana, are constantly recognized as the best in Chile by Chambers & Partners, GAR 100 and The Legal 500, ranking that has also highlighted Carla as a “Rising Star” in the legal market Chilean. With the appointment of Carla, the Conflict Resolution team also reaches gender parity at partner level.
Carla graduated summa cum laude from the Universidad de Chile (2011) and obtained an LL.M. in International Law and International Relations with maximum distinction from the Complutense University of Madrid, Spain (2017). Among the various specialist organizations of which she is a member, Carla belongs to the international arbitrators network “Rising Arbitrators Initiative”, she is listed in the Chilean Bar Association’s Directory of Experts, and she is designated a Young Arbitrator at the Santiago Chamber of Commerce Center for Arbitration and Mediation (CAM Santiago).
Jorge Valenzuela Baldwin joined BMAJ’s Tax Law area in 2011. He advises clients on corporate tax structuring, M&A transactions, and day-to-day matters of tax legislation. He also represents clients in judicial matters before special courts, and is versed in applicable tax rules in Canada, Mexico and Peru. BMAJ’s Tax Law area is led by Guillermo Fonseca, has been recognised by the international rankings publication Chambers & Partners and is currently ranked in The Legal 500, which also recognised Jorge as a “Rising Star” in Tax Law in Chile.
Jorge graduated from the Universidad de los Andes (2006) and holds an LL.M. in Tax Planning and Management from the Universidad de Santiago (2009).
